The solver uses a curated list of common 5-letter English words (similar to the NYT Wordle answer list) by default. You can switch to the extended mode which includes all ~16,000 valid 5-letter Scrabble words for a wider search.
After filtering, the solver recommends the single word that would eliminate the most remaining possibilities if played next. It uses letter frequency analysis across all remaining candidates — the ideal guess splits the remaining pool as close to 50/50 as possible for each letter position.
High-information starting words include CRANE, SLATE, TRACE, AUDIO, and RAISE. These contain the most frequent Wordle letters (E, A, R, I, O, T, N, S) spread across different positions, giving you the most clues from a single guess.
